Hans Reichel - Le Bal
Hans Reichel used an instrument he created called the Daxophone on this track. The instrument has thin strips of wood that are played with a bow to mimic the sound of human voices and animal calls.

This is Annabelle the Doll. She is also reportedly possessed. She apparently is a vessel for a vicious demon. Quaint. She lives in the Warren Occult Museum now (which is a different interesting thing in it's own). She doesn't have a wiki, or any sources that really do it for me, but whatever, it's interesting and it's almost Halloween. Read here:
This is Mandy, and she lives in the Quesnel & District Museum and Archives in Canada. This doll is said to be inhabited by a sweet spirit of a child, that is attention hungry, and has fits of tantrums. This information was relayed by the staff at the museum. Here's their website.

I do feel that the fact that anyone has the right to have kids whenever, however many, no matter what, is the greatest shame. Those rights should be earned by people that can prove they can actually be parents.
Note: I have a pet peeve. It's people that talk about washed up celebrities that were never that special, like they were on the up and up, and they feel so bad that they've made "some bad decisions". Who the fuck cares? Fuck 'em. Celebrity gossip is probably the worst waste of time that a human being can invest in. Read a book, invest time in that. Knowledge is power. Real knowledge, that has real weight. Not who's on crack or who's getting married or having a kid or who's dating who. What makes these people special where we have to pry into their lives? They probably want privacy, and they're probably just as boring as the rest of us.

A Day In The Life Of Charlie Blair
Tyler and I were recently interviewed on our thoughts on Charlie Blair, host of Music Americana. Charlie has been at the station for over 10 years now, and is a staple of station life. His show Music Americana is a long running program on KCPR that features "America's music" like Dixieland and Zydeco.

Robert Delong On KCPR 1
Robert Delong played that night with Wavves, IAMDYNAMITE, AWOLNATION, and Fitz and The Tantrums. I had some ticket give aways, and he was nice enough to come over for an interview in between sound check. I got to sit in on some of Wavves sound check, and sure enough, I got to hang out for a little bit with Nathan from Wavves. I succeeded! Wavves came to SLO! Thanks to Robert for coming in on short notice!

Wavves is coming to SLO! Wavves is playing at The Cal Poly Rec Center on Cal Poly campus, which is conveniently by KCPR. I really want Wavves to play live on air for a Live Session to promote the show (that's going on across the street). Also, the DJ's that can't afford to go to the show can come sit and watch in the station, so at least they can see Wavves. So I'm hoping that can happen.
Matt and I got on the guestlist to see Wavves at The Smell in LA, so maybe we can get lit with Nathan and hangout.
YAY for you SLO! You're getting Wavves!

Matt and I missed the Wavves show in LA because we were told the wrong date. Whatever. We're now on the guest list for the show in SLO. Gonna tear that up! So now we're just going to hot box the station with Wavves and see if playing on air is possible. I don't know...

Nux Fest 2013
Here's a documentary that Tyler Deitz, KCPR's business director, made about Nux Fest 2013. Tyler is rad, he was almost my trainee, but it's ok because I forgive him. I remember when Nuxfest started at Broadfest and the first year it happened was in 2010. Now it has grown into a giant juggernaut of the community. I'm just happy to be apart of it's humble beginnings, and being really fucked up while doing really fucked up things every year. Follow the link.

My favorite part, that I'm the only one meantioned by name and I'm totally fucked up on several levels throughout the whole thing. Also in the end you can hear Hypnic Jerk playing the cover of "Psycho Killer" by Talking Heads. Hypnic Jerk is Matt (Guitar, Vocals), Steven (Drums), and Me (Bass). We played Nux!
What wasn't put on camera....when I threw my tampon in the crowd, spit beer on people (I am the bassist that spit that Ben is talking about), when I spit in the crowd (I am the person that spit on that girl), punched people in the face, got punched in the face and my nose bled, when I ate dog tranquilizer in front of the crowd after drinking a Joose and a Red Bull, drinking a bottle of Jim Beam straight, totally spitting up water on Danny's dick when he exposed himself to the camera, and got pushed into the nasty still water pond in front of Xroads, then having to shower during the show. I wore Matt's clothes the whole time, even his underwear, for the whole night, and I was barefoot and soaking wet the whole time. Showered in beer a lot. The best was in the morning when I was interviewed and Tyler asks "was it worth it" and I was holding my fucked up nose and I said "Yeah, sure". That's the story every year.
